Price is known primarily for his influential work in ceramic sculpture with his origins as a 1950s contemporary artist. Price's ceramics are both abstract and functional, both pottery and sculpture.

A disciple of legendary California ceramist Peter Voulkos at the Otis Art Institute in the 1950s, Price was among the first to rebel against the demure esthetic code of American ceramists.

Instead of prim and proper designs, he experimented with rough edges; bright colors applied with abandon, replaced careful, earthy glazes. He was influenced by Picasso and Miro - both of whom did ceramic work - and by the madcap Barcelona architecture of Antoni Gaudi.

Price is widely collected by a variety of top museums such as: Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY; National Gallery of Art, Washington DC; Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, CA. Price continues to exhibit around the world.
